Most of our workforce is comprised of volunteers. If you have a few free hours that you can dedicate to others, or a skill that can be shared, we will be happy to channel it in the right direction.
All cash donations are eligible for a full tax exemption. You are also invited to donate new and gently used toys, clothing, furniture, and any other items that may be enjoyed by others.
As the sixth of nine children, Daniella’s parents did not have a lot of time, and they missed the warning signals that something was not quite right at school. Luckily, a social worker from DoGood noticed that Daniella’s grades were dropping and realized she was having trouble reading and writing. Now Daniella has the extra help she needs to excel at school - and life.
At the age of four, Oliver lost both of his parents in a car accident. Oliver was in the car at the time of the accident, and though he walked away without any physical injuries, he was emotionally devastated. With help from DoGood, Oliver became very active in sports, and though this can’t take away the pain of losing his parents, it has helped him to rediscover joy.
Sight is critical for so many everyday functions, from reading the blackboard to playing basketball. We provide free eye exams and subsidized prescription eyewear so no child needs to squint when they look for their future.
Some children have more toys than they know what to do with, while others have few good toys to speak of. We strive to matchmake between toyts and youngsters in need with our yearlong toy exchange program.
Bringing up a healthy and happy child is particularly challenging for underprivileged families dealing with children who have special needs. We offer daily assistance to these families, in the form of after-school help and other activities.
ButtonWhen school is over for the day, not all children have a comfortable environment to come home to. In our after school activity programs we offer a warm place to stay, study, play, eat and relax.
ButtonNumerous studies have shown that being with animals helps people overcome learning difficulties, emotional challenges and more. Not every family can have a household pet, so our animal center enables children to enjoy the benefit of having a pet without the cost.
ButtonOur medical center is open every day from noon to midnight to receive patients without appointments or referrals. We offer everything from flu shots to X-rays, and have a 24-hour call center for telephone inquiries.

Basic health care that many of us take for granted can be hard for others to access. We ensure that underprivileged youngsters and adults have access to the health practitioners they need.
Community is the family that goes beyond family. It is the people and places that we come in contact with each and every day. When we strengthen communities, we strengthen individuals.
We were founded almost 100 years ago, by John Smith, the child of immigrants, who grew up to love the country and the people around him. Smith started in his charitable activities by donating the farm where he was raised to start a summer camp for underprivileged city kids. Since then, his activities have grown, prospered and expanded.
