Job Title: Program Facilitator, Life Readiness and Baby B.O.S.S programs

Qualifications:

Candidates must

  • Have a BA or BS in education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Have computer proficiency.
  • Commit to a full summer or school year.
  • Have the ability to engage with and develop relationships with a variety of program stakeholders from parents, institutions of higher education, community leaders, and/or school staff.
  • Demonstrate poise, professionalism, and exceptional communication skills. It is critically important that instructors model timeliness and dependability in attendance throughout the program.
  • Have the ability to adapt to various learning styles and respect for individual differences of students in the classroom.
  • Exercise effectiveness and patience in guiding classroom activities, keeping discussions on task and thinking quickly/creatively in the face of unexpected questions or comments; must demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Be willing to provide, accept, and implement feedback about their instruction or classroom management approach in order to better serve the needs of our students.
  • Model and embody The Village Legal and Community Project’s Education Core Pillars: Raise critical consciousness of black youth, understand youth in terms of their strengths, assets and excellence, challenge racial stereotypes, and promote healing; as instructors they must be coachable and model a growth mindset.
  • Have experience with working with underserved and under resourced populations.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the instructional leader for cohorts of students;
  • Lead delivery of TVLCP Project Curriculum;
  • Lead team building activities for the student cohorts;
  • Review lesson plans prior to each instructional day;
  • Administer technical assessments and student surveys;
  • Evaluate and track quantitative and qualitative student progress;
  • Serve as main liaison between students, and TVLCP;
  • Serve as secondary liaison to various stakeholders, including parents, donors, partners, etc.;
  • Report to Program Manager or CEO of TVLCP;
  • Participate in weekly calls with Program Manager or CEO of TVLCP;
  • Model The Village culture in the classroom: See the strengths in students. Exude excellence. Provide an unwavering message of hope and resilience.

We are a community-based organization providing pro bono and sliding scale legal services and programming addressing economic development and life readiness.
